Nadeen Brown

Nadeen Brown is an emerging multidisciplinary artist. Her current practice is autobiographical – chronicling her life with chronic, and misunderstood, complex illnesses and injuries. She encompasses the media of drawing, writing, tattooing, embroidery, painting, fashion, design; and performance art.

Her personal journey is both complex and unique. In her earlier years she was told that she wasn’t a disabled person, however society treated her as if she was. She faced stigma and prejudice throughout her life; it became confusing for her young mind to grasp these big concepts. Now later life with added conditions she faces more minimisation and erasure of her invisible chronic illnesses.

Nadeen’s multidisciplinary practice transforms her lived experience of disability into visual activism.

Her art speaks of visibility, justice, advocacy and reclaiming identity through art, poetry and reflections. She resides in Adelaide, South Australia.
