Guided Making: Mapping Gentle Signals

Guided Making: Mapping Gentle Signals

Task (15–25 min):
Create a simple “map” of your current state using marks, colour, or materials.

Instructions:

Exercise 1 – Walk With Attention
Take a slow walk, indoors or outside.

Notice:
• colours
• textures
• sounds
• weather
• small changes in the environment

Collect a word, object, colour, or memory from the experience.

Exercise 2 – Map What You Notice
Using 1–3 materials only (pen, pencil, thread, collage, etc.), create a simple “map” of what you observed.

Respond to:
• your energy
• your environment
• your body (comfort, tension, stillness)
• something that caught your attention

Divide the page into loose sections if helpful.

Constraints:
• No erasing.
• No planning.
• Keep moving.

This is not a drawing of something. It is a record of noticing.
